McDonald's Accused of Selling
Cancer-Causing Chicken
Oct. 21 (Bloomberg) -- Bloomberg's Thom
Weidlich talks with Bloomberg's Matt Miller and Carol Massar about the a lawsuit filed by
the Cancer Project accusing McDonald's Corp., Burger King Holdings Inc. and Friendly Ice
Cream Corp. of selling chicken they know contains a chemical that can cause cancer even in
small amounts. A similar suit against seven restaurant chains in 2006 and another against
Yum! Brands Inc.s KFC unit last month were filed in California. That state listed the
chemical, PhIP, which forms during the grilling process, as a known carcinogen in 1994,
according to the complaint.(Source: Bloomberg)

Part 1 of Jeffrey Grupp, former Indiana
University Northwest Lecturer, teaching in a Bioethics class on the hazards of vaccines.
This lecture is from February 12, 2007 at Indiana University Northwest. Though my sources
sited (by the class books and handouts I gave, plus sources sited in lecture) were utterly
professional (from medical journals, etc.), Indiana University Northwests Arts and
Sciences Dean terminated me from teaching due to these lectures, though no explanation for
why I was terminated was ever given.
Not in Front of the Children: Civil
Liberties and Internet Censorship
In 2000, the ACLU challenged the Child
Online Protection Act (COPA), a piece of legislation making it illegal to distribute
content on the Internet acknowledged as protected speech for adults but deemed harmful to
minors, including the web content mentioned above. If implemented, COPA would have imposed
harsh criminal sanctions, such as huge fines and prison time. In January 2009, the U.S.
Supreme Court announced that it will not hear the governments appeal of COPA, officially
ending the 10-year legal battle. In his talk, Chris Hansen will share his experience
challenging COPA and other Internet censorship efforts.
Exploitation in Kansas
We would like to thank the below scholars,
scientists, medical doctors, and researchers who have come forward to explain the
environmental reality of our home. Although we are not able to list all the engineers
& doctors who have helped us, we thank you all for your dedicated to science, human
rights, environment, childrens rights and most of all we thank you for your
professionalism.
We appreciate your help in developing a life-lab on our property for academics and
engineering students to use to gather data on environmental exposures relating to
substation, distribution and transmission of electricity and its impact on humans and
animals. We hope this research and findings will allow for mandated enforcement and
development of 21 century compliance standards.

In Pot We Trust
Reefer madness can still be hazardous to
your health. That's the message of ``In Pot We Trust,'' a Showtime documentary airing
tonight at 8:30 p.m. New York time. The show makes a persuasive case that marijuana
provides some patients a degree of relief they can't get from standard medications and
should be legally available. Yet many patients continue to face prosecution and even jail
for smoking the palliative weed. The show presents several compelling witnesses: a mother
with severe palsy, a stockbroker with bone tumors, a churchgoing woman suffering from
multiple sclerosis, and a man whose post- traumatic stress problems began when his father
took the family to a restaurant and shot his mother, whose ``head ended up all over me and
my sister.'' All insist marijuana relieves their pain and allows them to be
productive citizens. Sadly for them, some people in high places fervently disagree. The
hero of the show is Aaron Houston, director of government relations for the Marijuana
Policy Project, a group that backs medical-marijuana legislation at the state and federal
levels. While a small number of Americans participate in strictly regulated weed-providing
programs, millions more risk legal sanction for using pot.
Wake up, America! We're on the brink of a
financial meltdown. I.O.U.S.A. boldly examines the rapidly growing national debt and its
consequences for the United States and its citizens. Burdened with an ever-expanding
government and military, increased international competition, overextended entitlement
programs, and debts to foreign countries that are becoming impossible to honor, America
must mend its spendthrift ways or face an economic disaster of epic proportions.
Throughout history, the American government has found it nearly impossible to spend only
what has been raised through taxes. Wielding candid interviews with both average American
taxpayers and government officials, Sundance veteran Patrick Creadon (Wordplay) helps
demystify the nation's financial practices and policies. The film follows former U.S.
Comptroller General David Walker as he crisscrosses the country explaining America's
unsustainable fiscal policies to its citizens. With surgical precision, Creadon
interweaves archival footage and economic data to paint a vivid and alarming profile of
America's current economic situation. The ultimate power of I.O.U.S.A. is that the film
moves beyond doomsday rhetoric to proffer potential financial scenarios and propose
solutions about how we can recreate a fiscally sound nation for future generations.
Creadon uses candid interviews and his featured subjects include Warren Buffett, Alan
Greenspan, Paul O'Neill, Robert Rubin, and Paul Volcker, along with the Peter G. Peterson
Foundation's own David Walker and Bob Bixby of the Concord Coalition, a Foundation
grantee.

Actie Borssele
Dreigende terroristische aanslagen
waren destijds immers continu in het nieuws. Greenpeace vestigde met de actie aandacht op
de risicos van kernenergie en kerncentrales. Want kernenergie is nooit veilig.
